Due to growing pressure from energy price increases during Q1 and Q2 of 2022 REPTA surveyed 100 companion animal centres to assess the impacts to business. This survey data was sent on to government in a bid to have the reptile industry recognised as an at risk industry. This survey of pet centres, specifically reptile centres was the first of its kind and brought to light a number of themes we previously did not know. One of the most interesting themes was how pivotal pet and reptile centres are in the re-homing and surrender process for homeless reptiles. An astounding 93% of all reptiles in need of homes in the UK are absorbed by the pet centre network of the UK. This demonstrates a greater level of continued responsibility for animal welfare than almost any other companion animal sector. Click on the link below to see the full report.
