Changes at repta

Dear REPTA Members,

I’m reaching out to share some exciting news about a shift in my role within REPTA—a project that has been my passion for the past two decades.

After much thought and reflection, I’ve decided to step down as the Chairman of REPTA. These 20 years have been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories, and the remarkable growth of our industry.

As we usher in this new chapter, REPTA will be undergoing a restructuring process. The industry has evolved, and it’s time to welcome fresh perspectives and new faces to the leadership team. I’m confident that this change will position us for further successes and the defence of reptile companion ownership.

While I may be stepping down as Chairman, I’m not saying goodbye to REPTA. Instead, I’m transitioning into the role of Policy Advisor. In this capacity, I’ll continue to serve the organisation by communicating with government bodies and non-governmental working groups. My focus will be on facilitating policies that support responsible reptile keeping, ensuring our community thrives in an environment that values both the welfare of the animals and the passion of their keepers.

This decision wasn’t made lightly, but I believe it’s the right step forward for REPTA. Change is inevitable, and it’s through adaptation and collaboration that we’ll continue to make a positive impact on the lives of reptiles and exotic pets.

I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for REPTA and look forward to working in my new role. Together, we’ve built a community that is passionate, resilient, and dedicated to the well-being of the animals we love.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. Here’s to shaping the future of REPTA together.

With sincere gratitude,

Chris Newman Policy Advisor, REPTA
